Things really have got their meanings here
today's lecture on ethics was a really meaningful one
1. Emotional memory is much much stronger than the factual memory. Ppl tend to remember the feeling each individual makes him feel more than who the individual is.
- this simply implies tat for the unfortunate patients who lose memory, they might not recognise ppl they used to know, but they definitely can remember the feeling ppl make them feel.
2. As a individual / carer, it is always more important to make the patients feel good rather than forcing facts onto them! eg, do not argue over who u r when u're mistaken into someone else. It hurts ur feeling that ppl u once familiar with just cant recognise u anymore, as if u were never there. However, if they do recognise u as somebody, it just means that u make him feel like someone he used to know.....they recognise the feeling when they meet someone they know!
3. Things can be complicated when u're just not in the right position to do sth ethically. No means NO! never compromise for sth that will put u into serious legal dispute. However, be creative in finding a solution for things.
4. Understandings and empathy really help in helping the patients.
5. Always act in a way that comforts the patients. Eg, RETROGRESS! Patients lose new memory first. If they cant use an electric kettle, buy then the old-fashioned boiling one!!! It's always small act that makes a difference.
6. Be a lil more considerate and show a lil more patience. It definitely gonna bring a positive impact in the patients! Think of how u can improve their lives! Be mindful!
Lastly, let's make a change!
